Objective:
to identify basic articles of clothing
Materials:
pages 15-16, 20 of Das Deutschbuch (Seite15.pdf, Seite16.pdf,Seite20.pdf)
Procedure:
A. Review greetings and introductions (approx. 8 min)
Play Geheimagent 007. First review expressions: Wer bist du? und Wie geht’s?
B. Review numbers (approx. 7 min)
Play Pflaumen or the clapping game.
C. Clothing (approx. 10 min)
Introduce what you are wearing: Das ist ein Hemd.
Then refer the students to page 15 of Das Deutschbuch and write the German words on the board, while the students write them down.

Practice new vocabulary by asking various questions.
Was ist das? Welche Farbe hat das? (point to various articles of clothing that different students are wearing)
Was trägt man auf dem Kopf? an den Füßen?
Was trägt man im Winter? im Sommer?
D. Partnerarbeit (approx. 8 min)
Have them work in pairs to complete page 16 of Das Deutschbuch.
E. Male und schneide aus (approx. 7 min)
Refer the students to page 20 of Das Deutschbuch. Have the students take this page out of their book and explain how they should go about making the paper doll and clothes.
***Consider giving the students an assignment for next time: designing and labeling an outfit. Then the teacher can display their pictures in the classroom. Please discuss this first with the teacher.***
